My guide to a daily morning routine for a focused mind and a productive day.
Imagine mating with your partner, enjoying beautiful dreams, a soft layer of blanket that touches your body and makes you feel like you're never getting out. Who would want to start a busy and stressful day, open their eyes and stop getting out of bed?
But we like that we wake up UP and stop our day.
Whether energetic or tired, morning brings new purpose and a day full of destiny. Fresh and well-organized mornings are a productive day and a focused mind set. We should realize that what we choose as our morning routine / activity plays an important role throughout our day.
There are some rituals in my daily morning routine.
These rituals have helped me with a focused and productive mind, an active lifestyle, and a smile on my face.
To set the tone of my entire day, I wake up early (I mean early at 7 am, I'm not going to get up at 4 am), and then I always follow some rituals to my liking.
Hydration: The first thing I do is to hydrate myself by drinking 2-3 glasses of water. Sometimes I mix lemon or apple cider vinegar in a glass of lukewarm water to support gut health and my skin. Currently, I am in the practice of sipping cumin water on an empty stomach. I have found it very useful for dealing with my menstrual pain and digestive system.
Tip: Try to avoid coffee or black tea on an empty stomach. Drinking caffeine on an empty stomach can irritate your stomach and cause acidity and heartburn. You can drink herbal tea. Turmeric tea is the best option in winter.
Mouth Hygiene and Skincare: There is no secret to brushing your teeth, but for me, awakening my senses and taking care of my dental health is my ritual. I have started oil pulling once or twice a week using coconut oil for the past few months. Oil pulling is an ancient Ayurvedic practice that involves oiling your mouth to remove bacteria and promote oral hygiene. Then I clean and scrub my face with coffee powder or oats or any homemade scrub and comb my hair and follow it. I think combing your hair and massaging your scalp (in the process) helps to circulate blood flow.
Tip: Dry brushing or massaging your skin once a week is beneficial for your skin. Try to avoid the use of harmful chemicals on your face, especially if you are in your 30s.
Keep going. Morning time is best for exercising because it has its own allowances. I do not do any hardcore exercises in the morning, but my favorite activity is to do 10-15 minutes of light dancing or basic yoga asanas. For December 2020, I decided to walk a total of 400 kilometers before the new year. To achieve this goal, I usually walk for 4-5 km in the morning.
Suggestion: Devote a minimum of 10-15 minutes for any physical activity as per your choice. Always be aware of your health conditions and the weather around you and choose your exercise accordingly.
Meditation: Meditation helps me calm my nerves in the morning. I try to do it in fresh air. My balcony is my favorite place in my house to meditate. I practice breathing and release the subconscious. A free mind helps me cope with the inevitable stress and manages my home and work life in a balanced equation. Meditate on getting up in the morning which is my cup.
Tip: If you are a beginner in meditation, it is possible to be overwhelmed by the instructions of different thoughts. Just try to practice meditation daily.
There is no hard and fast rule in this daily morning routine.
Then I drank green tea, coffee, or Indian masala tea. Write about my today's agenda. My husband kisses, gives him a big hearty hug, and I'm ready for the rest of the day.
Make your morning routine according to your preferences, and adopt it as a relaxation technique, not a discipline. Give yourself a morning rest time, which is important for your body and mind.
